Grants artificially made plants that look like it grows from the body while these plants arent sentient they are able to move. 

An excess build up of the living crystal forms on the outside of a moni most likely through cracks in the body this crystal is dead so touching them wont harm anything.

These growths cannot form over body parts to "enhance" it they can only form in clusters on the body.

Different from LEDs these can be used to make markings or body parts glow.

Some monibuds like to decorate them selves and or let their bud companions attach trinkets to them.

Spikes can be any shape/size.

"Beta" refering to past monibuds who have more of a fleshy looking body used for beta testing as apposed to the current monibuds who are segmented and more robotic looking.
